Golson House was built in 1919 by the grandparents of June and Jane Golson who were the daughters of Neita Webb Golson and her husband Dr. John Wesley “Doc” Golson who was a dentist.  Neita and Doc who lived in Mer Rouge brought their girls to live in West Monroe.

In 1977, Neita, Jane and June sold the house to Jane’s son Johnny and his wife Judy who rehabilitated and reinvented the home in an amazing way.  In the 1980s, the house became a family retreat for the Cutler family when Johnny and Judy moved across the river to Monroe with their daughter Ashley Layne.  Jane and Billy and Judy and Johnny continued to entertain family and friends until Billy and Jane’s deaths in 2015 and 2017.

In October of 2022, Jane’s sister’s son and his adult children bought the house from Judy and Johnny.  The house is old and creaky and fabulously imperfect.

Jane’s Side:

Enter Jane’s side directly through the front porch.  There are two bedrooms in Jane’s side with two twins in Bedroom 1 and a king bed in Bedroom 2.  Bedroom 2 is across from the bathroom that has a tub/shower combination.  There is also a front parlor, dining room, kitchen and living room on Jane’s side.  Jane’s side also has the only television.  There is streaming access to Prime video, Netflix, and On Air (antenna channels)

June’s side:

June’s side also has its own entrance and you can also access her side through the dining room.  A large bedroom with a tester bed (pronounced “Teester”) and a ensuite bathroom with a claw foot tub and shower.  June’s side has no television.

Both sides access the back deck.  The house is a few blocks (and a short walk) from West Monroe High School and a short drive from Trenton Street in West Monroe.  There is room in the driveway for a car and street parking for additional cars.

There are nearby restaurants and shopping and easy access to I-20 and across the river to Monroe.  For groceries, a Walmart Market in around the corner and so is a Super One.
